Brief Descriptionon TVS Motor Company Limited

TVS Motor Company is the third largest two-wheeler manufacturer in India, with a revenue of Rs.11,516 Cr ($1.7 billion) in 2015-16. It is the flagship company of the Rs. 40,000 Cr ($6 billion, in 2014-15) TVS Group. The company has an annual sales of 2.5 million units and an annual capacity of over 3 million vehicles. TVS Motor Company is also the 2nd largest exporter in India with exports to over 60 Countries.

TVS Motor Company Ltd (TVS Motor), member of the TVS Group, is the largest company of the group in terms of size and turnover, with more than 2.8 crore (28 million) customers riding a TVS bike.

Mukesh Krishna, HR executive, accompanied us in the briefing about TVS history, current status and future plants.
First he took us to the moped manufacturing and assembly division where students were able to see and understand the process involved starting from manufacturing of connecting rods, piston, camshaft, crankshaft, valves, engine block, chassis, etc.,. Later visit continued towards engine assembly unit equipped with chain conveyer, assembling unit of whole vehicle body, quality checks in between, painting shop and testing of vehicles.
Later he took to the motorcycle manufacturing division where he explained the process involved in detail and had an interactive session student enriched their knowledge, procedure for internship, way to get in to TVs plan and got the glimpse of the overall plant. The session concluded with a brief on their collaboration between BMW.
During the visit students were able to see the real world manufacturing process, different special purpose CNC machines, material selection strategyfor different applications, process planning, batch planning, conveyer design, pneumatic application, robot applications, quality check, etc.
